Many have asked me about the name choice - why Modern Manbo?
In Haitian Vodou culture, a "Manbo" is a highly respected priestess. The term comes from the Fon language (Nanbo) and means "Mother of Magic."
A Manbo is more than just a spiritual leader; she uses her extensive knowledge and intuition to guide and support her community, while maintaining her femininity, beauty and warmth.
Modern Manbo stands as an emblem of female empowerment and leadership, transcending the traditional confines of the Vodou temple. Our Modern Manbos are the remarkable women around the globe who serve as the foundational pillars of their households, families, and communities.
